St James South Elmham History
St James is indeed an ancient village as is made clear by our Church with its links back into the 7th Century. Here we have collected historical notes about the village, but items of history can be found in other places across the website.

- From nearly 100 years ago we have an item from Pocket Histories of Suffolk Parishes No. 306 – South Elmham St James. Published in Yeoman’s Directories this was reprinted by Suffolk Chronicle and Mercury in 1933. As well as a guide to the Church, the author gives his own views on the nature of the village. Read this here.
- A more recent view of the Church, its history, structure and contents by Roy Tricker can be found in our Church section.
